that movie has stayed with us.

I couldn't help but chuckle and think, though it is a good line, that it would be used as an LCC Chapel Sermon Illustration when it comes out on DVD.

jy, i suppose you're talking about the first quote. i guess that as long as they don't say "shit" or anything like that, it'll be ok.

We just always play this game, while watching movies, where you try to be the first to spot the LCC Chapel Sermon Illustration. Because using movie clips is cutting edge.

Be that as it may: it's a great line and it's true.

I've been wanting to see that movie. I'm told an old college buddy of mine plays the role of one of Cash's early managers. He has one line...something about encouraging Cash to not play a certain song? I dunno.

did not know you were an okkervil river fan. do they play them in boston?

not that i know of. i was introduced to them and the mountain goats by my friend chris. besides having his finger on the pulse of americana music, chris is also a thorn in the side of lightway. thus, we get along quite well.

i've finally started listening to lyle lovett lately. that's some good home cookin'.

not that it would surprise you but i have been a lyle lovett fan since 1987. Man I am old.
